Rush-bearing Week
Whereas Whitweek is the great holiday time for Manchester, the people of
Lymm make rush-bearing week the season of their coming under the spell
of the goddess of pleasure. Go the old custom which once surrounded this
festive season have to a large extent disappeared, there still exists a
few reminding features, such as the band which carried out a good
programme at the Cross last Saturday night, and the boys going round
selling bullrushes. |
