[1890] Rushbearing
Altrincham Divisional Chronicle, 15th August, 1890, p5

The old custom of rushbearing is rapidly dying out...

The Lymm Morris
On Saturday morning the old custom of morris dancers, gaily bedecked, perambulated the village as usual. One set hailed from Sandy Lane, and Mr Tom Holt was its conductor; and the other company came from Booth's Hill, with Mr Tom Brooks at their head. Even here, the modern concertina has taken the place of the fiddle in providing the old chants for the dancers.
