Extracts from Press Report

Lymm Rushbearing
The annual and old-fashioned custom of rushbearing was observed last Saturday, in all its original style...
The rush-cart drawn by four first class grey horses, started from the Eagle Hotel yard about 9.30a.m., and, preceded by the Lymm tradesmen's Band, proceeded through the principal thoroughfares of the village, and afterwards to to the seat of the principal gentry in the neighbourhood...  ...A novel feature was introduced this year in the person of "Gradely Joe," a well known character of the village...   ...riding on top of the rush-cart, vainly endeavouring to drive the four horses with ribbons.
